Course Description

This course will cover world geography including the teaching of topography, world climates, physical and political features of the world.  Students will gain an understanding of the significance of the geopolitical, cultural, military, and economical challenges of the major regions of the world.  Students will have an opportunity to discuss and present their ideas surrounding current political divisions, key leaders, religious issues, natural features, and population patterns.

 

Expectations

Throughout the semester we will read about current events and discuss the impact it has on our life.  We will divide into groups for the purpose of research and presentations of case studies.  Students will have a textbook at home so that they may expand their knowledge of the material presented during class time and be prepared to share their knowledge and insights with other members of the class.  Every student is expected to add to the class discussions.

Late Work and Excused Absences

The time limit for make-up work is directly related to the length of the absence.  If you are absent one day, you will have one day from the day you return to complete make-up work and testing.  This policy does not apply to non-excused absences; I will not accept late work from those that skip school.  I am available after school for make-up testing.

 

Behavior Policy

As a student at Novato High you should be aware of the behavior policy that is set forward by the school.  Students must follow all behavior, tardy, and contraband rules set by the administration.

 

Everyday Materials

  1. Two subject college rule notebook with at least 100 pages
  2. Pencils and pens in class
